How to HELP Oklahoma Tornado Victims...

The loss of life and stunning devastation in Oklahoma City suburbs after a monster tornado ripped through the area are heart-wrenching. But within hours, relief organizations were getting out the message on how to help.

American Red Cross
The Red Cross has set up shelters in various communities. You can donate to the Red Cross Disaster Relief fund here, and the organization also suggests giving blood at your local hospital or blood bank. Fundraising efforts were buoyed Tuesday by a $1 million pledge from Kevin Durant, of the Oklahoma City Thunder basketball team, via his family foundation.

If you want to send a $10 donation to the Disaster Relief fund via text message, you can do so by texting the word REDCROSS to 90999. As in the case with other donations via mobile, the donation will show up on your wireless bill, or be deducted from your balance if you have a prepaid phone. You need to be 18 or older, or have parental permission, to donate this way. (If you change your mind, text the word STOP to 90999.)

Phone: 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767); for Spanish speakers, 1-800-257-7575; for TDD, 1-800-220-4095.

Question of the Day...

Do you smoke? Do smokers bother you?  Why or why not?

Cher Announces New Single In June, Album In September

"It is indeed a “Woman’s World” (see what I did there?), and it will be even more so when Cher drops her as-yet-untitled ninety-fifth studio album, now due for a September release, with a first single in June. Details have been leaking out about the LP, which is slated to feature a collaboration with Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears (amazing), and at one point was rumored to include a collab with Timbaland (eh), a duet with Lady Gaga (okay, sure, cool) and two songs written by Pink (awesome).

As is par for the course for the iconic superstar and social media ninja, Cher announced the news via Twitter." Full story here!

Don't Ask, Don't Tell, Faggot: Inside Marine Corps Boot Camp

"After the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" act banning gays in the military was repealed in 2011, the Marine Corps' top officer, Gen. John Amos (who argued against the repeal) said he was "very pleased with how it has gone." The Marine Corps even brought the media along to a recruiting event at a gay rights center. But the current reality does not appear to be so loving for cadets.

The email below comes from someone currently attending USMC boot camp. (We've verified its authenticity and removed identifying details, but left it otherwise intact.) It's no surprise that boot camp involves lots of cussing from drill instructors—but this section seemed a bit, well, retrograde: "Don't ask Don't Tell. Shit may have been repealed, but the USMC sure hasn't adapted. We're called faggots 10-50 times a day. 'You think that's yelling? That's sweet faggot.' 'Yeah, you would think that's a pushup, faggot.' etc. Any time we fuck something up, the DI's tell us 'you stupid fucking thing. That's more wrong than two boys fucking.' One captain, when giving an ethics class, and talking about how one mistake can change your life/ identity told the entire company 'you can be a bridge builder your entire life, but you suck one dick and you're a cocksucker till you die.'" UFC Fighter Suspended After Using Anti-Gay Slur on Twitter

When a fight spilled out of the cage and into cyberspace, officials from the Ultimate Fighting Championship saw fit to suspend fighter Nate Diaz for using an anti-gay in a Twitter post last Thursday, MMAFighting.com reports.

Nate Diaz, 28, took to the social media website and called Pat Healy "the biggest fag in the world." Diaz wrote the tweet after Healy lost his bonus money from a recent victory because he tested positive for pot use. The money was then given to another fighter, whom Diaz later lashed out against on Twitter.

"We are very disappointed by Nate Diaz’s comments, which are in no way reflective of our organization," the UFC wrote in a statement. "Nate is currently suspended pending internal investigation and we will provide further comment once the matter has been decided." Full story here!
