Question of the Day...

June is Gay Pride Month, how will you personally celebrate. If attending a gay pride event, in what city?

For me personally, gay pride is what you make it and I make it a positive experience each year. The parade means so much to me, and as I watch it I think back on all my gay friends I love who are no longer with us and I honor their memory.

Each year during this week Marc and I watch movies that tell a story of the strength of our community. Stonewall, Milk, and of course this year the Normal Heart. I get very emotional during pride but also use those emotions to inspire me to be a better person and live each day to the fullest.

“Let me have my tax money go for my protection and not for my prosecution. Let my tax money go for the protection of me. Protect my home, protect my streets, protect my car, protect my life, protect my property...worry about becoming a human being and not about how you can prevent others from enjoying their lives because of your own inability to adjust to life.”

As a member of The Quire, Eastern Iowa's GLBT Chorus, I performed this past weekend at the Quad Cities Pride festival in Davenport, IA, and on Saturday, the 21st, we will be singing at the Iowa City Pride festival.

I live pride, every day of my life. Loving my husband, standing for equality, voting for the like minded people.

I went to Back Bay Harry's for the Pride Retrospective today. Bit small. Going to Pride Night at Fenway on Thursday. Go Red Sox. And marching with the company I work for on Saturday. Grateful to work for a company I can be out in and who marches in the parade.
