Man Refuses to Leave Partner's Hospital Room, Gets Arrested

"A gay man was arrested and issued a restraining order in Kansas City, Mo., after he refused to leave his partner's hospital bedside, according to The Raw Story.

Roger Gorley told Kansas City'sFox 4 News that even though he and his partner, Allen, have been in a civil union for five years and have legal power of attorney agreements to make medical decisions for one another, when a member of Allen's family asked Gorley to leave, staff at Research Medical Center refused to recognize the men's partnership, and called police to remove Gorley from the hospital in handcuffs." Full story here!

WGB:  It really upsets me to think this still happens, however I do wonder if there is more to this story than we know at this time.

As a gay man and registered nurse, the RN inside me takes over in this case. If the hospital did what this man alleges, then I completely support this man... However I do think there is probably more to this story. If he was belligerent towards staff or other people we at times do call "Code gray" on family members if they are escalating a situation. I have a feeling he was likely doing this.
