Question of the Day...

The holidays can be a stressful time of year for many of us.  How are you holding up? Tis the season to be jolly or are their certain things on your plate right now that you could do without?

I just wish I could buy gifts for more family and friends. I have a very very small budget for Christmas this year so their are so many people I love I am not able to give to.

There are certain barriers that we have to cross before I know that things are getting better. The first hurdle to clear is my getting into the holiday spirit. That happens about October. After that is my mother in law around late November, and finally the husband, the week before Christmas. Intermittently, there's also present buying, the inevitable, "I'm not spending more on presents because no one spent as much as I did on presents" which is followed by the "Tis the season, scrooge" speech. Finally, it's the Christmas spirit after husband finishes his exams and then we have one really nice night out before we start the family fun, or one of us gets on a plane to go back to our respective countries of origin....

This time of year is extremely busy for me. I'm an engraver and I make awards. In addition to Fire Fighter of the Year, Employee of the Year, Volunteer of the year, etc, etc awards I'm also asked to engrave pen sets, flasks, cuff links, watches. Anything you can imagine or want engraved. We expect we'll be going through hell and are rarely suprised by anything that happens. Its VERY stressful. I just wish prople would be a bit nicer and maybe a bit more polite. You know what I mean?
We close the shop from Christmas eve thru New Years day - just to stay sane. I live for that week!
