I live half way between Milwaukee and Chicago, so I tend to gravitate to Chicago, better events; Market Days, Chicago Pride, International Mr Leather.
None. They're not for me.

Ptown (Carnival, July 4 week, and next year Bear Week!), Market Days, have been to Folsom original flavor and Folsom Street East. ... Local gay happy hours and gay pride as well.
Well, I for one haven't actually been to any so far, but I'm hoping to make a start in the upcoming year with some friends of mine, and mind you this is all coming up in the summer (hopefully the winter won't be so long :p)
One thing I've always wanted to go see and experience is the Coney Island Mermaid Parade, which isn't inherently lgbt but it does have it's elements, and from what I hear it can be lots of fun.
And of course there's Pride Week here in NYC, I believe it's in June. Hoping to get out to see the parade
Sf Pride, Folsom Street Fair, gay days at theme parks. Its good to get out and be with people of the same interest.
I've volunteered for my local AIDS Walk on off for the last ten years. It's fun and personally satisfying.
