There are 2 sides to every story. He says he was kicked off for being gay, the school says it was for lying to his coach. He admitted he lied about who the guy was. So, I'm taking a wait and see approach.
It is horrible the way he was forced to come out but if he wasn't ashamed/scared of being gay he shouldn't have lied about who the guy was even though he was older.

saying "it was a distraction" is BULLSHIT! This would not be an issue if it was a hetero couple
