On Monday, President Barack Obama signed a law prohibiting protests during or near military funerals. The Honoring America’s Veterans and Caring For Camp Lejuene Families Act of 2012 also benefits military personnel and their families with improved healthcare, housing, education, and memorial services.
“We have a moral sacred duty to our men and women in uniform,” said Obama at the bill signing, according to a pool report. “The graves of our veterans are hallowed grounds.” Full story here!

What about the rest of us? Veterans' graves are hallowed grounds but civilian graves aren't? If you're gonna limit protesting at funerals why not all funerals?
A bad law. Our First Amendment right is more important to me than keeping the peace at an outdoor funeral. Westboro is crazy, obviously. But aren't there legitimate reasons that somebody might want to protest at a military funeral? I can think of several. And there were already reasonable restrictions in place like keeping a certain distance and no loudspeakers and that sort of thing.
