Wicked Sweet Couple up for Dream Wedding!

The absolutely adorable couple in the photo above not only have a sweet love story that you can read here but are going against the norms of who can win a wedding contest in this day and age. I just cast my vote for them and hope you will consider as well.

WGB: Why should we pick you?

Because we're a couple of cuties, of course! Kidding aside, you should pick us because we're two young, hardworking guys who love each other wholly and completely. We're in the process of buying our first home together - in Manhattan, no less - and we have a nonexistent wedding budget at this point. Winning this contest will give us the much-needed funds to have the wedding of our dreams. But we're not in this contest just for us. There's another couple who are in first place. You can find them by visiting the contest site and clicking the tab to the right that says "most votes." The groom in the story has cancer - and if any couple deserves to win the grand prize, it's these two. I know firsthand the devastating effects of cancer - my brother passed away from Leukemia in 2003 - and we'd like to see this couple have the wedding of their dreams, too. They deserve it! So I hope your readers will vote for us - and them! That's not to say that we don't want to win the grand prize - we'd fall on the floor with elation - but there are 19 other prizes that we'd be honored to accept. Any one of those prizes will help us out in our new life together - and they'll be much appreciated. If we do happen to win, however, we vow - if Crate & Barrel will allow it - to split the grand prize with the couple I just mentioned. We can pull off as spectacular a wedding on $50,000 as we can with $100,000. Getting married is about sharing the love, after all.

WGB: How would you describe your dream wedding?

Our dream wedding is full of family and friends basking in the harmony of our commitment to each other despite the odds. I never really thought about marriage much as a kid - I never felt it was an option as a gay person - but now that we've made it a reality, my creativity has gone into overdrive. I dream of a wedding in New York City, on the open-air terrace of Inside Park, a beautiful establishment adjacent to St. Bart's Cathedral. Comedienne Kathy Griffin will warm up the crowd with laughter before we arrive via yellow cab to kick off the celebration. For our first dance we'd be honored if Michael Buble sang our song. His uptempo hit "Everything" resonates with us because it imbues the sort of happiness we've found in each other - and it's one of the only songs we've heard that's genderless - no mention of he or she in the lyrics - and sung by a man. It's a perfect fit. Kathy and Michael don't know anything about these plans, so if they're out there reading this, we hope they'll oblige and clear their schedules from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 17, 2011. Drinks are on us!

WGB: We wish them a lifetime of happiness and love! Please feel free to re-post this story and also re-Tweet as I would like to see their Wedding dream become a reality!
