A-Trak producing Madonna’s “comeback” album?

Madonna is currently at work on a new album, which is expected to be unleashed some time in 2010. (This will be her first album under her new 10 year contract with Live Nation.) She has stayed relevant in the music business by constantly reinventing herself, taking in new genres and musical experiments and making them her own. She is meticulous about how she selects collaborators, because they inform the sound of the albums as much at Madge herself.

You would find weird describing a new Madonna record as a "comeback album", unless you're Parisian hip hop and electro producer DJ Mehdi. "I can’t wait to see N*Sync and the Backstreet Boys getting back together. Oh, and A-Trak producing Madonna’s comeback album," Mehdi told Dummy magazine's Adam Saville who asked him what he was excited about music-wise for the new decade.

DJ Mehdi is the second French producer rumoured to be involved in Madonna's first music release under the Live Nation contract. The 32 year old joins David Guetta who, as reported one month ago, told Digital Spy: "I would love to work with Madonna. It will probably happen very soon actually. It's all in the early stages and I'm not allowed to speak about it yet."

Meet the New Avon & Tupperware Ladies: Gay Men

In 1886, a forward thinking man founded a company by the name of Avon, which offered women the rare chance to become successful entrepreneurs by selling beauty products to other women.

Flash forward to 2009, to an America progressive enough to elect its first black president but still misogynist enough to deny the oval office to a woman. The American woman may have a way to go, but she’s certainly come a long way. Although hawking products like Mary Kay, Avon and Tupperware are still viable options, today they’re far from not the only game in town.

One sign the pendulum has swung? Gay male direct sales reps are stepping into the comfortable pumps traditionally occupied by women--and, in the process, obtaining the same economic independence.

Another sign? Furry-chested, gay-friendly Aussie hunk Hugh Jackman is currently filming "Avon Man" - the true tale of a suddenly unemployed hetero male who becomes an Avon salesperson to make ends meet. What begins as act of economic desperation soon catapults the charming, testosterone-fueled lipstick hawker into the one of the company’s top sellers. (Continue Reading-Source/Edge)

Lambda Legal blasts Obama; federal judge battles administration

Lambda Legal has lashed out at the Obama administration for refusing to give spousal benefits to a lesbian federal courts employee despite a judge’s order that it must do so.

"We are once again surprised and shocked that the Obama administration is rejecting another chance to do the right and legal thing, disregarding both the order, and the substantive analysis, of the chief judge of the 9th Circuit about what federal law and the 9th Circuit’s employment rules require in this case," said Lambda’s marriage project director, Jennifer Pizer. On Eve of Marriage Equality, Landmark D.C. Gay Bookstore to Close

With marriage equality set to take effect in the nation’s capital, a landmark gay bookstore is preparing to shutter its windows for good.

Lambda Rising opened three decades ago, when gays and lesbians in America struggled to achieve--and hold on to--even the most basic civil protections. That struggle continues today, with recent setbacks for gay and lesbian families in California, New York, and Maine countered by a victory for marriage equality in Washington, D.C. Throughout those decades of struggle, GLBT culture has depended in part on bookstores like Lambda Rising, oases where gay readers might go to find gay voices telling the story of America’s sexual minorities. Levi Vs. Bristol - Open To The Public

"A teeny tiny victory for Levi Johnston and the ongoing custody battle over his and Bristol Palin's son Tripp.

A judge has granted Levi's request to make the court proceedings open to the public.

Of course Levi would ask to make his private matters open for all to see!

Bristol requested to keep the case out of the public eye, arguing that privacy would be best for their son, Tripp. She also asked for a gag order so no one involved in the proceedings could talk about the case and all files would be under anonymity.

Levi fought back saying:

"I know that public scrutiny will simplify this matter and act as a check against anyone's need to be overly vindictive, aggressive or malicious, not that Bristol would ever be that way, nor that I would. But her mother is powerful, politically ambitious and has a reputation for being extremely vindictive . . . So, I think a public case might go a long way in reducing Sarah Palin's instinct to attack."

Sexy Sarah's daughter is quick to deny his claims saying her "mother is not involved in the case" and believes Levi is only wanting to make the proceedings public "for his own self-promotion". (Source-Perez)

Disabled parking thieves slammed - Official fed up with ‘rampant’ abuse

Heartless Hub motorists who use handicapped parking passes meant for relatives - dead or alive - drew a harsh rebuke from the state’s top advocate for the disabled.

Irate Woman Destroys Perfume Display At Ga. Store

Athens-Clarke police are looking for a woman who destroyed $1,000 worth of perfume at a store after being told she couldn’t return items without a receipt. The Athens Banner-Herald reported Monday that police said the woman pushed over a large plastic display stand holding several hundred sample-size bottles of perfume that cost $3.50 each.

A clerk at Joy Joy Beauty said they told the customer she couldn’t return several items Saturday afternoon because she didn’t have a receipt.

They said the display stand broke after the woman pushed it and every bottle of perfume smashed against the floor as she stormed out of the store and drove away in a green van. (Source)

No gay change for the Salvation Army

"...I do not ring the bell for the Salvation Army. I do not donate to the Salvation Army, because the Salvation Army discriminates against gays and lesbians in employment, works to defeat civil rights measures that protect gays and lesbians and promotes position that gay relationships “do not conform to God’s will for society.”

Some will say, but the Salvation Army performs good work — the organization feeds the hungry, shelters the homeless, clothes the impoverished, whether gay or straight.

Yes, yet there are many other organizations performing the same work as the Salvation Army that do not discriminate against gays and lesbians, that will not use your donation against you.

From the Salvation Army’s Web site: “The Army regards the origins of a homosexual orientation as a mystery and does not regard a homosexual disposition as blameworthy in and of itself or rectifiable at will. Nevertheless, while we are not responsible for what we are, we are accountable for what we do; and homosexual conduct, like heterosexual conduct, is controllable and may be morally evaluated therefore in light of scriptural teaching.

“For this reason, such practices, if unrenounced, render a person ineligible for Salvation Army soldiership.” (Continue Reading-Source/365 Gay)

There Will Be Nowhere for the Gays to Hang Out at Sundance

"The Queer Lounge, the marketer-friendly hangout spot for LGBTs at Park City's Sundance Film Festival, will not be appearing in January. That's because GLAAD, which has been handling the Lounge since 2007, has made the responsible fiscal decision that a $200,000 is too much to spend in this economy for a glorified networking spot. But don't think GLAAD is dropping out of Sundance — which this year might be boycotted by anti-gays — all together: Continued via Queerty »

D.C.’s Black Churches Slow to Welcome Gay Weddings

Republicans Who Opposed The Stimulus Continue To Pan It As A ‘Failure,’ While Also Taking Credit For Its Success

"Every Republican in the House and nearly every Republican Senator voted against the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (also known as the stimulus). Although the Congressional Budget Office has credited the stimulus with creating up to 1.6 million jobs, the same GOP politicians who opposed the stimulus have attempted to justify their opposition to the policy by smearing it as a failure. But as ThinkProgress has documented, the same politicians are returning to their districts to take credit for the economic success of the stimulus." (Continue Reading-Source/Think Progress)
