Wicked Feel Good Story of the Day

Corduroy

Via Towleroad: "Chris Pesto, a junior drama major at Syracuse University, felt uncomfortable when he saw Open-Air Campaigner evangelist Michelle Deferio standing on campus with her anti-gay sign, so he decided to create a bit of his own drama:

Writes Pesto: "This woman was wearing a ankle-length corduroy skirt, which, as we all know, is a fashion nono. So, in order to make her feel uncomfortable, I stood next to her and held a sign that said Corduroy skirts are a sin! I don’t think I have ever drawn so much attention in my life. SO many people asked to take a picture with me, I got laughs, high fives and there were the few that even cursed off the woman standing behind me. As I drew interest to what was going on with myself and the woman with the hateful sign, I started to draw a crowd that stood with me in support. Before I knew it I had 100+ people holding signs for gay rights asking people to honk their horns to support. I was interviewed by a news station, and more than 5 student organization papers, and the post standard of syracuse." (Source-Towleroad)

KRIS ALLEN WEAKEST IDOL?

"Kris Allen now has the dubious distinction of delivering the debut album with the weakest bow of any AI winner. Apparently "Christian" voting blocks don't buy albums.

With only 80,000 units of his self-titled album sold, Kris Allen was outperformed by past winner Carrie Underwood, and is far outpaced by his Idol runner-up Adam Lambert whose debut album FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT is reportedly on its way to a 225,000+ release, following great reviews and a certain buzz-worthy AMA performance." Boston brewer pushes new limits on extreme beer

It is banned in 13 states and sure doesn't come in a six-pack.

The maker of Samuel Adams beer has released an updated version of its biennial beer Utopias -- now the highest alcohol content beer on the market. At 27 percent alcohol by volume and $150 a bottle, the limited release of the brandy-colored Utopias comes as more brewers take advantage of improvements in science to boost potency and enhance taste.

"Just part of trying to push the envelope," said Jim Koch, founder and owner of the Boston Beer Co. the maker of Sam Adams. "I'm pushing it beyond what the laws of these 13 states ever contemplated when they passed those laws decades ago." (Continue Reading-Source/Boston.com)

Should I Boycott TV News for a Couple of Days?

Is it just me or is EVERY single news station reporting on the damn Tiger Woods story. Does anyone care? He hit a tree and is fine and not hurt, end of story. I really don't need to know every detail or every LACK of detail on every single channel, every single second.

Am I the only one who could care less? There must be at least one story in this great nation of ours that deserves more media attention! I can think of several.

Palin quits before finishing the 5K Turkey Trot race.

On Wednesday, Sarah Palin excitedly announced on Twitter that she was going to be running a 5K Turkey Trot charity race in Washington state on Thanksgiving day. Large crowds of people turned out to catch Palin at the race, hoping to get the chance to meet the former Alaska governor. Palin, however, quit the race early to avoid many of her fans:

Palin had announced on Twitter that she would be running the 5k race organized by the Benton-Franklin Chapter of the Red Cross.

She didn’t finish the race, opting to leave the course early to avoid more crowds at the end. About 40 minutes into the run, word started trickling out to people gathered at the finish line that she was gone.

Wonkette also points out that Palin said she wasn’t going to be making a turkey dinner for Thanksgiving because it was “too much work.” (Source-Think Progress)

Popular U.S. Places in Peril

The National Geographic Society’s Center for Sustainable Destinations gathered 437 experts from fields like historic preservation, geography, ecology, and archaeology and had them rank 133 iconic destinations around the world in terms of authenticity and integrity. The real question was: are these places still great or have they been destroyed by mass consumerism, overcrowding, and wanton disregard for the environment?

Cape Cod Massachusetts
Too many gift shops and mini-golf courses. That’s the main beef with today’s Cape Cod. The once character-filled ocean retreat is now comprised of bumper-to-bumper traffic and homogenized stores. The experts want to take cars out of the equation altogether by improving bike trails and public transit options. While they applaud the preservation of the dunes on the eastern end of the Cape, it’s certainly not enough. The shoreline needs to be watched carefully, as well as the overall ecological health of the area.

Click here to read the entire list! (Some areas on this list may shock you just as Cape Cod truly surprised me.)

Thailand looks to limit sex change surgery

Thailand has issued rules making sex change surgery more difficult - including a requirement that potential candidates cross-dress for a year - over fears that some patients are rushing into the operation, a medical association said Thursday.

Transsexuals and transgender men are a common sight in Thailand, appearing on soap operas and working at all levels of Bangkok society, from department store cosmetics counters and popular restaurants to corporate offices and red-light districts. A national transgender beauty pageant draws thousands to the beachside town of Pattaya every year.

But over the past two years, a rash of castrations, especially among young men, has alarmed the medical establishment and prompted the new rules. (Continue Reading-Source/Edge)
