9 Steps to Casting A Good Spell....

1. Cast a circle and connect with the divinity within
2. Call upon the divinity from without
3. State the goal of your spell
4. Visualize your goal
5. Raise energy by chanting, dancing, or drumming
6. Direct your energy to the spell's goal
7. Release the energy of your spell, ground any excess energy
8. Offer libation and thanks and close your circle
9. Act in accord and give back in thanks
Casting a spell? Don't forget to:
- decide on your goal
- find guidance for your spell from an oracle or divation tool
- prepare your space by cleansing with salt water or herbs such as sage
5 Facts for Successful Spellcasting:
* Passion fuels a successful spell; doubt can kill it.
* Spells can be performed almost anywhere -- though I don't recommend attempting it while in the midst of rush-hour traffic! You do need to work without being disturbed when you cast a spell. So find a quiet and private place, preferably outdoors.
* Once you've cast a spell, don't talk about it -- or even think about it -- for 24 hours!
* An old axiom says that spells should rhyme. A rhymed spell has rhythm and joyfulness in it, it's easy to remember and repeat, and the repetition itself creates an altered, magical consciousness.
* A spell is only used to control yourself, never another or Nature and remember, you should not do spellwork on someone else's behalf without their permission.

BREAKING: Levi Johnston on the Fence About Playgirl Shoot

"The media have been having a field day with Levi Johnston’s long, long flirtation with a porn-style photo shoot. So where does that leave Levi’s much vaunted photo shoot? I reported here back in mid-October that Johnston would be posing for the skin rag (now just online) in early November.
On Oct. 30, Brian Moylan, in a widely circulated report on Gawker, announced: "Though Levi Johnston’s svengali Tank Jones told us last week that he was "90% sure" Levi would bare all for Playgirl, he has officially removed that pesky 10% uncertainty. Levi will be going, um, whole hog for his upcoming shoot."
I must report that a very informed source has told EDGE that the contract has, in fact, not been signed. Despite all of the media frenzy around Johnston’s daily workouts in his hometown of Wasilla, and his chowing down on moose meat. Jones and his lawyer, Rex Butler, who have been handling Johnston’s every move since he burst into fame, are still hedging about doing the shoot at all, let alone how much skin he’ll show." NFL Still Homophobic, Despite Progress

The headlines generated by Chiefs running back Larry Johnson--who Tweeted an anti-gay epithet and later repeated it verbally--has brought the issue of homophobia in pro sports front and center once again.
An Oct. 30 Kansas City Star article interviewed gay former NFL player Esara Tuaolo, who the article said was only one of a few football pros to come out of the closet. Like the others mentioned--David Kopay and Roy Simmons--Tuaolo revealed his orientation only after he had retired from the sport.
The article noted that the NFL had been rocked recently by a bid from anti-gay, conservative radio shock-jock Rush Limbaugh to acquire the St. Louis Rams as part of a group that would have purchased the team jointly; Limbaugh was later excluded from the group in the midst of controversy that arose. Bea Arthur leaves $300K to gay youth

Thank you for CONTINUING to be a friend!
"Golden Girls" star Bea Arthur's generosity lives on!
The actress, who died in April, included a $300,000 donation to New York's Ali Forney Center, an organization supporting homeless LGBT youth, in her will, leaving center Executive Director Carl Siciliano overwhelmed by her kindness.
Siciliano said he knew of Arthur's plan to include the center in her will, but never knew the amount.
He had been struggling to keep the doors of the shelter open. The organization assists more than 1,000 people each year, providing shelter for those who had to leave home "for being who they are," Siciliano said.
"The last year and a half, since the economic crisis started, it's been really hard to keep this program going," Siciliano said. "A lot of the foundation and corporate money that we used to get has dried up, and we've been growing. Every day, we have about 125 kids a night waiting to get into our housing."
But on Tuesday morning, a FedEx carrier delivered a $300,000 check.
Siciliano said he immediately started to cry. Arthur's donation couldn't have come at a better time. (Continue Reading-Source/CNN)

Obama Forges Forward on Gay Issues: Ends HIV Travel Ban, Reauthorizes Ryan White Act

Two days after signing the historic Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act--the first federal law to extend protections to GLBT Americans--President Barack Obama addressed two other issues seen by gay Americans as crucial to the cause of equality.
The president signed into law legislation that re-authorizes the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Extension Act. The law provides funds for another four years to programs that provide medicine and care for needy people living with HIV/AIDS. An estimated 500,000 individuals rely on the program to maintain their treatment regimens.
President Obama also announced the end of a long-standing ban on HIV-positive visitors to the United States. The ban had been in place since the 1980s. (Continue Reading-Source/Edge)
WGB: Okay, in the past week on Obama watch we have the extension of the Ryan White Act, the passage of the Hate Crimes legislation, and now the end of the HIV travel ban. Looks like the President is keeping his campaign promises after all. I know many people would disagree but name one President that has done more?
This article begs to differ however.

Gay Renters to Get Some Discrimination Protection

When it comes to negotiating a lease or paying fair rent, gay and transgender renters may soon get more protection.
Last week, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development said it’s fast-tracking a nationwide study to determine the extent of housing discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. It’s also proposing regulations to insure these individuals won’t be denied public housing or government housing vouchers because of their identities.
HUD’s initiatives will soon be posted for public comment, but the agency offered no timeline for the study or regulations.
If the regulations pass, gay and transgender renters would get legal firepower they’ve never had, though not as extensive as other protected classes. The proposed regulations only cover HUD rental programs, so not all apartments will be included. (Continue Reading-Source/Edge)

High school teacher suspended after controversial assignment

"Teacher Dan DeLong (pictured left) is beloved by many of his students, as an educator who pushes the envelope for his students.
But he's not pushing anything right now. Students and parents say he's been suspended from his job at the Southwestern School District High School in Piasa, located north of Alton. At issue: DeLong offered his students optional work by going to a website and reading a scientific report about homosexuality in animals.
The word of his suspension comes from Facebook, the online networking site. His supporters at the school have created a webpage in support of DeLong and more than
400 people have signed on to show support, or at least read details of the dispute.
DeLong teaches honors English to 10th to 12th grade students. The website option was made to a 10th grade class.
Students say the parent of one of the students saw the website and thought it was not appropriate for her child.
School officials, according to parents, have set a hearing for DeLong for Monday night at the school board offices." (Source)
WGB: My source tells me that DeLong is a straight married man with two kids who is an ally of the GLBT community and was simply trying to educate through this assignment. This man needs our support! If you blog, please share this story. If you don't blog please forward this blog post to friends, post this link to your Facebook, and Tweet it if possible - I would be grateful! Also, you can join his Facebook page below.

The winner of the reality TV show "Big Brother 9" is headed to federal court for a detention hearing on a drug charge.

The Fort Worth, Texas, police have taken a major step toward repairing its relatioship with the LGBT community after a violent bar raid on June 28, 2009-‚the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising. The fracas came in for criticism from government officials and eventually police officials themselves.
